The Citrus sinensis tree is a member of the Rutaceae family and originates in China; however, it is now cultivated around the world-especially in California and Florida. The height of the tree grows to be 8-20 feet tall with widths of 7-20 ft. The tree yields bright orange fruit that contains a sweet pulp and non-bitter membranes.
Likely originating in China, the dried peels of the orange tree were used in ancient Chinese medicine to treat coughs and colds.
